Not sure what to say?

Hard to believe a year has passed since you went to heaven. As this year has been full of deaths, there is comfort in knowing you are greeting the friends and relatives.

Miss you, my friend,
Marge Mostyn

I was so Blessed when I went into the Confessional Tent in hyde park during world youth day 2008.
That dear Bishop heard my confession, I walked into the Confessional and there was a Bishop, I had no idea who he was, He was so Kind and Caring to me and so Humble, I started calling him 'your Grace' he quelled my fumbling and said to me "I am a Priest you can address me as Father" I have just found out about his passing as I was talking to an american Friend online about the Dear Bishop...

Roger was not only a priest, he was a kind and caring man. You could go into his office anytime and talk with him about anything. His door was always open for anyone. What a great human being... I enjoyed knowing him for 4 years at Providence HS.

I do not know if my first entry was sent. I want to extend my depest sympathy to Bishop Kaffer's Family and to the Joliet Diocese. Bishop Kaffer will long be remembered for his kindness to others. His compassion for all those he met will be his trademark. The Catholic Church has truly lost a Bishop that was known for his Pastoral gifts.

As president of the Providence mother's club I had the honor of introducing Father Kaffer our new principal. I worked with Father as the Business Mgr., Bookkeeper for nine years. We became good friends with Earl and Helene. He always kidded me about our ages. He was a year younger. Joe and I are deeply saddened, we lost a dear friend.
He closed all his letters with "Sincerely yours in the Sacred Heart", and so do I.

I,together with my wife Dorothy, had the great honor of personally meeting Bishop Roger during the Kaffer family reunion at Joliet in July 2000 after many years of corresponding with him via mail. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing but know that he is with God now.

My sisteer, Mary Thulis (Hartung)
informed me of Roger's death. I served at his masses when he was assigned to St.Paul's in Joliet. He was a very kind man.....very considerate of our group of servers. I remember an evening mass on New Year's Eve at St. Raymond's that my family attended, celebrated by Roger. His homily made a profound impression on me that night. Indeed he was a very special man and equally dedicated servant of the Lord. May he rest in God's peace.

Bishop Kaffer meant so much to my late husband Al & myself. I will never forget the day he came to our home to visit before our son Brian started his freshman year at Providence in 1982. I will always remember the meals he prepared at Sue & Val Mores. He was truly a very holy man. May he be reunited with all the Providence family that have gone before him.

I just wanted to thank Bishop Kaffer for being so involved with the youth. I went to World Youth Day in Rome in August of 2000 with the Diocese of Joliet when I was 16. I was amazed at how Bishop Kaffer would keep up with us and encourage us to explore our faith. He is a great man, and will be missed.
