Roger Martin King, age 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025.  He was born on January 23, 1942, in Asheboro, NC, to Carl L. and Frances (Rumley) King.


Roger began his working career in the textile industry but later joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Winston Salem NC.  He was able to take classes at Guilford College during his service and later graduated with a bachelor's degree.  Living in South Florida in 1974, he pursued a master's in counseling psychology from Nova University. Before retirement, he was a guidance counselor at Trinity High School in Trinity, NC.


He was a hard worker and a man of faith who put family first; he enjoyed sports, swimming, and travel. Survivors include his wife, Jane King of Sebring; daughter Anza King of Pembroke Pines, FL and grandson Dalton Thomason of Wilmington, NC; son Bradley King (Scarlett Watts) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brothers Bill King (Ana) of Raleigh, NC; C. L. King (Geneva) of Wilmington, NC; Gaylon (Judy) King of Phoenix, AZ; and sister Carol Thomas of Show Low, AZ.


A memorial tribute will be scheduled in North Carolina at a later date.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse at http://www.samaritanspurse.org

What a sweet sweet man. He sat behind me in Sunday School. After Sunday School he always waited for Sweet Jane to get ready to go. All the while holding her purse. I always teased him his purse did not match his clothes. We will really miss him.
