JOHNSON FUNERAL HOME Obituary

Roger Steven LeBlanc, 68, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Tuesday, August 29 at his home, with his wife and children by his side.

Mr. LeBlanc was born on September 15, 1948 in Lake Charles to Erma “Smokey” & M.A. “Chic” LeBlanc.  He graduated from LaGrange High School, attended McNeese State University, and served his country with honor in the US Army in Vietnam.

He adored his wife Sam and relished making her happy.  He was an amazing father and a loyal friend who touched many lives.

In 1975 Roger and his dad went into business together forming Chic LeBlanc Appliances.  Back in those early days, Roger delivered appliances each day after the store closed.  The years went by, the business grew, the name and locations changed, and along the way he and his wife Sam took a chance with a big move and a lot more square feet at the current location of C&C on McNeese Street.  A family business is just that – a family.  And Roger has a long legacy with a big extended family that was Chic’s/C&C.  After a lifetime of earning the respect and trust of the community, he and Sam retired in 2014 and sold the business to Larry & Rhonda Wright.

Mr. LeBlanc loved NASCAR, fishing and listening to country music.  But most of all, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sam” LeBlanc, his son Mike LeBlanc and daughter Jeannie Moss, both of Houston, son-in-law Justin Moss, grandchildren Jake & Avery Moss, his sister Ann LeBlanc & spouse Carol Pettyjohn, of Sulphur, and nephew Shane LeBlanc of Sulphur, and like son & daughter, Larry & Rhonda Wright of Lake Charles.

His Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be, Saturday, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM and continue, Sunday, from 11:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice, specifically to Angie LaPointe & Amanda Mason for their heartfelt support as Roger passed from this world to the next.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Erma LeBlanc Scholarship Fund at McNeese. As Roger learned from his mother’s example and his own personal experience, nurses uniquely make the world a better place with their nurturing, compassion and care.  Donate by sending a check made out to MSU Foundation to C&C at 2335 E. McNeese, 70607, or donate online at http://mcneesefoundation.org/give.

Great person, husband, father and grandfather. Special person❤

It was a privilege to care for Mr. Leblanc and he and his wife were loved by all of his nurses. Mr. Leblanc is a constant reminder of why I do what I do and I loved every day I was lucky enough to participate in his care.

Mr. Leblanc was very kind to me and my family when we moved from Houston to Lake Charles. Our condolences goes out to the family we are terribly sorry for your loss.

To all who loved and experienced his being have peace that he is cherished in heaven as well. He was my bridge and anchor during life changing events. His memory will always bring a calming of senses. May each of you be blessed the same.

We met Roger when we starting buying appliances at C&C. He was a such a fine man and an honest business man. We remember him with fondness. I knew Mrs Erma LeBlanc because I had McNeese nursing students at Lake Charles Charity Hospital. What a fine tribute to Roger to remember him with a donation to the scholarship that bears his mother's name. Still giving to the community.

Sandra -
I'm so sorry for your loss. If you ever go to Oakdale, please call and stop by. I'd love to see you. Also, my sister (Ilene) got her nursing degree from McNeese in 1977. Erma was her mentor from 1978 to 1981 at Moss Regional. She has fond memories of her. Love and sympathy, Claire ([email protected] - feel free to email for number and address)

My deepest sympathy to Roger's family. He was a Lake Charles institution and will always be remembered.

Thinking of you and your family, Ann. I am so sorry for your loss. Take care.
