Not sure what to say?

Roger was a very close friend & classmate while students at Cal Polytechnic Architectural School. He excelled in creating imaginative pottery in the adjacent Potts Lab, across the courtyard from the Architectural Design Labs. Roger & I first met when his Father owned the King-Marshall Lumber Company in Shafter & Bakersfield.

I knew Roger in the 60's while attending Cal Poly. I worked for him as a laborer one summer on a house near SLO Country Club. Roger was a real mentor to me and many others. I have fond memories of working with him and his friendship. His business Architectural Arts was always filled with interesting people and projects.. He took us to breakfast at the Olive Tree Inn every morning before going to the construction site. He was always encouraging and a treat to be with. A great man among lessor...

As I had lost my address book, this is a very belated remembrance of Roger (and Judy) from Cal Poly school days. I had just received word from Patti Ghiselin. Roger (and Judy) were part of my very special 1960's past at Cal Poly. I have various Roger pots, that have never disentegrated, despite decades of plants living and dying. Our home was filled with Roger's beautiful pots.

A one of a kind talented person, who is now sorely missed by me and my architect daughter. I have never...

A New Dawn

I knew that Roger was talented but simply had no idea just how truly gifted he was! I can only remember meeting him once, when he and Judy were driving through Idaho, but he had a great whit and I really enjoyed the visit. It's a blessing to me that I got to know him, even just a little. Rest well, Roger, you were a good, caring and gentle person, touching all you met.

I am lighting a candle for you Dad because you spent 53 years lighting up my life. Now YOUR light is burning bright in my heart. I can't begin to thank you enough for being a great dad, for being an incredible role model to me and my children, and for inspiring my family and so many others to be the best we can be. I could always count on you through thick and thin. You lead by example and I strive to be more and more like you with each passing day. Sometimes I am so sad and my heart aches so...

Grandpa Roger, I remember the first time I met you, you and Grandma Judy opened up your home to me and when I left I went to hug you goodbye and I accidentally planted a big ole kiss on you! You made that into a joke between us, that and the fact that I graduated from the lesser Cal Poly ;) You loved your family so incredibly much. When your first-born grandson brought me to your home you welcomed me in and made me feel like I belonged. When you married Devin and I, we were so touched by your...

I live every day in the incredible beauty of the house you designed here in See Canyon. As an artist/architect you will always reign supreme.

While working at the glass shop in SLO I had the pleasure of his visits as a customer from time to time. Always a smile and a witty conversation. Good man.

A beloved Uncle. My husband and I will always carry him with us as we were married by "Big Bear" in Big Bear. Love to all the family.
