ROGER MCTIERNAN Obituary
Roger P. McTiernan, 83, beloved husband of the late Patricia McTiernan passed away on February 3, 2017 with his family by his side. The son of the late Patrick McTiernan and Tom and Anastasia Lundy, he was born in New York City. Roger graduated from Xavier High School, Fordham University, and Fordham School of Law. A litigator by trade, Roger went on to form the firm of Barry, McTiernan & Moore and was the recipient of many accolades for his accomplishments in the field of law. He had the privilege of arguing before the Supreme Court of the United States. Besides his love of the law, Roger delighted in playing tennis, reading and relaxing on his porch in Rockaway. Later in life, Roger moved to Connecticut to reside with his daughter and son-in-law. Roger is survived by his children Roger, Brian, Barry and Patricia; sister and brother-in-law, Bridgett and Philip McManus; son-in-law, Chris Moore, daughters-in-law, Karen and Tracy, 15 grandchildren, one nephew, two nieces and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, New York, NY, Thursday 3pm to 8pm. Mass Friday at 10:30am St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 84th Street and Park Avenue. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Gladney Center for Adoption.

I will miss Mr. McTiernan a great deal. I remember as a youth, when I maintainenced the BHYC tennis courts, sticking around on Saturday and Sunday mornings to watch the men play. There were some characters there for sure. Mr. McTiernan was incredible. Joking the whole time and never missing a shot. Remember him gingerly chasing a ball over his head and with his back to net, hitting it for a winner between his legs and down the line.
Later in life I got to know Mr&Mrs McTiernan while doing work on their house.
loved sitting on the porch and chatting with a xavier legend.
i am very fortunate to have met a man of Mr Mctiernan's stature.
My life is better having known men like he and Mr. Ryan

Our sincere condolences to the entire McTiernan family during this difficult time. Mr. McTiernan was a role model to the kids growing up in Stuyvesant Town and the Rockaways and he instilled the same qualities of class and grace in his four wonderful children that he himself carried with him his entire life. May he rest in peace!

Mr. McTiernan gave me my first job during law school, the basis being my Irish name and the fact my father went to Xavier. He was a gentleman and a role model.
