Newmarket- Roger L. Munroe, 82, of Lamprey River Park, died May 16, 2008, at the Rockingham Nursing Home, Brentwood, where he had resided since 2005.

Born July 3, 1925 in Kennebunkport, Me. the son of Charles E. and Lillian (Butland) Munroe he had lived in Newmarket for 48 years.

During World War II he served in the US Navy, and was stationed on the USS Quincy at the time of the Invasion of Normandy.

Roger worked as a meat cutter for various businesses.

He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post #67 in Newmarket.

He enjoyed playing golf and cards.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Rollins) Munroe of Newmarket; 5 children, John Munroe and wife Nadine of Barrington, Patricia Ernest and husband Glenn of Baltimore, MD, Deborah Chick and husband Dwight of Newmarket, Diane Jones and husband Arthur of Newmarket and Peter Munroe and wife Denise of Florida; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket, with Rev. Linda Overall officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.

Flowers are acceptable or should friends desire memorials may be made to NH Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association.

Your Dad was a wonderful person. I remember him always treating me warmly whenever I stopped by your house in the old days. My prayers are with you.

I was very surprised to read about your Dad,(Roger), It has been many years since I have seen any of you. Your dad is probably playing cards with my mom and dad right now and telling jokes.

I'll always be greatful for our great frendship while going through school. Your big hugs that you always gave to me and my Mom felt so sincere.

Roger and your MOM raised a great family and Rogers reflection is in each one of his children.
