GOODYEAR VILLAGE — Roger Earl Nelson Sr., 44, of Snaketown died on July 19, 2012, at home. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Goodyear Village Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Saturday at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Irving Terry officiating. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery. Mr. Nelson was born on March 9, 1968, in Phoenix. He was a heavy-equipment operator. He enjoyed team roping, playing slot machines and most of all being with his family and barbecuing. He loved watching movies with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Mavis D.; six daughters, Deanna Miller, Jessica, Justine, Dawn, Evelyn and Emily Nelson, all of Snaketown; a son, Roger Nelson Jr. of Snaketown; his mother, Lola Nelson of Lone Butte; a sister, Marlene Nelson of Casa Blanca; a brother, Stanley Nelson Jr. of Sacaton; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley T. Nelson Sr. J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
