Not sure what to say?

I recenly found out about the loss of Roger Porteous as I am just starting to research my family lineage. I understand Roger had a large impact on The Porteous Associates and will be missed by many. I was saddened to learn of his loss and send condolences to his family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Sympathies from us in Scotland .My husband Ian shared a 452 lineage with Roger. Always helpful with any queries I had .
Evelyn and Ian Porteous

Roger was always very willing to help me as a novice family researcher, and especially in my search for my grandfather's missing years in Australia, about which we corrresponded several times down the years. I'm so sad I didn't have the opportunity to meet him when we were in Australia earlier in the year.

Sincere condolences and love to Rosalie and the rest of the family, from Shirley and myself.

My thoughts and prayers are with Roger's family at this very sad time. May you find some strength in knowing he will be missed by many folk from all over the world, people whose lives were positively affected by his generousity and willingness to share his knowledge of all things Porteous.

A very sad loss indeed.

Roger was always so helpful in sending me military information relating to anyone named Porteous. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I would have loved to have met him.

Roger was ever knowledgeable and helpful in my Porteous family studies. I contacted Roger originally about 12 years ago and latterly again this year. He recalled our original contact and welcomed me back as overenthusiasticly as ever. Roger was a great help and I'm very sad to hear of his passing. Condolences also from our family.

Roger Graham Porteous - son of Winifred Hope(Benn) & John Porteous, Grandson of Gertrude Mary (Davies) & William Sedley Benn.
The Benn extended family will miss Roger's regular Newsletters keeping us up to date with one another and giving us all an historical window to our heritage.
Roger's warm friendship was very much appreciated on the fascinating journey of discovery with family history research.
Thank you for being a wonderful cousin.
Rest peacefully.
Much love and...

Terribly shocked and most saddened to hear this news. Though we'd never met we've corresponded for years & felt I knew him through his words. His impact on The Porteous Associates was huge and his contributions will be greatly missed. Nobody is ever prepared to let go, regardless of whether this is expected or not so I know the family must be finding this most difficult. Condolences from me, all of my family & also our group.
