Roger J. Rieder

Roger J. Rieder of South Elgin Funeral services for Roger J. Rieder, 63, formerly of Schaumburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Born July 12, 1939, in Bronx, N.Y., he died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Alexian Brothers Hospice House in Elk Grove Village. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, St. Charles Township. Mr. Rieder was a graduate of St. John's University, N.Y., and was a manager at Western Electric/Ameritech for more than 33 years. After his retirement, one of his greatest joys was driving a school bus for District #54. He had a special fondness for the students he drove, especially for junior high. He will be remembered by all for his love and encouragement, his gentle and often humorous way of cheering others, his wise counsel and godly example. Roger was the beloved husband of Joan Rieder (nee Barbour) for 40 years; loving father of Andrea (Bob) Mucha of Sleepy Hollow, Robert (Kendra) of Algonquin, Karen (Scott) Guetthoff of St. Charles and Laura (Mark) Walinder of Geneva; and fond grandfather of Molly, Spencer, Christopher, Kellie, Hannah, Nathan and Abigail. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI), 5777 W.
