Rita & family, So saddened to hear of Roger´s passing. He was a wonderful doctor and friend to us and really took Heather under his wing when she became a physician. Rita, John and I remember when you guys would come in the steak house and split a chef salad. You guys were always so cute together! We will miss him dearly... John and Karan Leyh

Mrs. Shenkel and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Shenkels passing. When we moved to Grand Jct back in 1988, Dr. Shenkel became our family physician. We all loved him so much. So much that since moving to North Carolina in 2005, his name has risen many times, kind and thoughtful memories. My husband especially loved him as he was treated for diabetes. Terry passed away 2 years ago and I'd thought of writing to Dr. Shenkel. May he rest in peace and I pray for you and your family. Thank you...

Rita and Family, My sympathy to you on the loss of Roger. I remember your family well from the student exchange family. Loss is never easy. God blessed Roger with a wonderful family and involvement.

Roger was an incredible mentor and I am so grateful to him for inviting me to join their practice in 1998. He was a visionary in health care access and also a very compassionate physician. Patients to this day still talk about Roger and what a great doctor he was. He will truly be missed. My thoughts go out to Rita and their daughters and please know what a wonderful husband, father and family doc he was!! No one can fill his shoes! May all these wonderful memories help in this...

Roger and Rita were the BEST neighbors! When we moved to Northridge Drive in 2004 with boys in kindergarten and second grade, Roger came over to introduce himself. He said, "We have a basketball hoop, and you're welcome to use it anytime. We love the sound of kids playing." The boys frequently took them up on that offer. Roger made sure they saw the owls in the trees and learned about rehabitating moose onto the Grand Mesa. Roger and Rita were just so kind - ALL the time. What inspirations...

Roger was a big part of the reason John and I came to Grand Junction in 2004 and joined Primary Care Partners. What an amazing man who had a huge impact on health care in the Grand Valley. He will be missed and always remembered. Peace to the Shenkel family at this difficult time.
