Not sure what to say?

I was fortunate to have met Roger through his daughter and my dear friend, Karen. Anyone who was close to Karen, eventually fell to the considerable charms of Roger. He used to bring our book group delicious cappucinos and remain just long enough to delight us with his wit and brilliant perspectives on everything from art to politics. He was a darling man who had it all and loved life to the last breath. Rest in Peace, Roddo.

Most of what I value about my life today I learned from the friendships I saw my parents in the neighborhood forming and maintaining. Roger and Sarah Sheppard from my child mind were at the heart of it all. The creative concoctions that Dad and Roger puzzled over, the festivities, and the camraderie. We children of the willamette hights feel like the luckiest in the world because of the camraderie that Roger and Sarah and all the rest showed us. And I am enjoying to this day the amazing pasta...

Roger visiting the Grimms

Tte greatest legacy we leave is the strength and character of our children. My dear friend Melissa Sheppard Mansfield certainly reflects the loving selflessness and natural proclavity to "do the right thing" that her beloved father[and mother]exemplified. My blessings and condolences go to the entire Sheppard family. Marjie Peck

My deepest condolences to Roger's family. He was a special human being who I was fortunate to get to know. My home visit with Sarah and Roger to discuss her care is an indelible memory from my early years in clinical practice. He will be remembered by many more people than we can imagine.

Beginning a fifty year friendship, Ray and I met Roger and Sarah probably in l958 and quickly got involved with the work of the Liturgical Arts Guild with Roger and people like Roy Setziol, Lee & Bonnie Kelly and Lolita Celsi. These were exciting people to work with, collaborating on the interior furnishings of churches in this region.
The friendship continued and extended into many parts of our lives;from making weather machines and creating gourmet food gatherings annd it continues today...

Dear Neighbors,This is a fond remembrance of our dear friend, Roger Sheppard, who died last week after spending many years living in Willamette Heights.

Roger Sheppard's adventuresome spirit let him to Portland in 1936 from the town of Virginia, Minnesota, his homeland in the Mesabi Iron Mountain Range. By 1956 when my family (Jackie, Fred, and Pala Jackson) arrived as next-door neighbors in Willamette Heights, Roger had become a family man with is wife Sara, and four children -...

Karen, Tom and I are so grateful to have met you yesterday on Thurman St. to learn the amazing way your father left this world. Thank you.

Roger was a very impressive and accomplished man. Aunt Sarah made a wise choice. 'Course, she was pretty impressive herself. I was privileged to have been "related" to those folks. Our condolences to the Sheppard Family. John and Rita
