Not sure what to say?

I knew Roger through his Board Game Reviews in the Chicago newspapers (The Tribune?). I think it was back in the 70s or early 80s. As a board gamer myself, I looked forward to each of his reviews. I wrote to him in several occasions, and he always sent back a thoughtful reply. He even included comments about myself and my sister in one of his columns. I just thought of him today, and want to extend my thoughts and prayers for a life well-lived, and say I am grateful for the impact he had...

May God bless the Verhulst family. Although we did not know Roger well, his love for literature and board games became the conversation piece many times for my family. His essence is continually felt here on Senora.

Rog was an honorary lifetime member of the Insecurities Exchange, a group of creatives in the West Michigan area. Though the group no longer meets, many of its members still are connected in many ways. We will all miss Rog.

But even more, we will miss his unique sense of humor and his playing the devil's advocate to challenge our thinking.

Glady,

Rog will be remembered as a life-long friend. He was the first to teach me the editorial values of a layout, and one of the last lovingly critical minds I knew in Grand Rapids. In Cairo, Egypt at present, Nelle and I will keep him and all his retinue of admirers in our hearts.
