To the Ward family I extend my sincerest condolences. Roger was a fine southern gentleman always quick to offer a kind word and a gentle smile. He will be missed but I know he is already at work with the saints making Heaven just a little more "down home"...

I worked with Roger for a short time at Trinity and he was a kind, inspirational man. I am saddened to hear of his passing and pray for all those he left behind as we mourn. God's blessings to his family...

I was so honored to have worked with Roger at Trinity Church. He was truly a loving, committed, gracious, brave, inspirational, gentle and wise man with an infectious laugh. I feel honored and blessed to have known and learned from him. My thoughts are prayers are with you Gayle and the rest of the family.

Over 5 decades ago we got to know Roger when we were all students. He was an ally and companion during the civil rights era. As the years ate themselves up, the times between our contacts lengthened. After Katrina, we searched and found him and his family in their new home. I'm glad we did. Our condolences go to Gayle and the children. Roger was one of the good guys. One of the best of the good guys.

Roger was a great friend and mentor whose kindness, generosity, and commitment to social justice was inspirational. He will be missed.

Roger was such a gentle soul, kind and caring; I got to know him back when he taught at Newman. Gayle, please know that you & the children will remain in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn this loss.
