Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

Services for H. Roger Watkins, 76, will be Thursday morning April 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.  Services will conclude at the funeral home.  The family will gather at Connerville Cemetery for the burial.


A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


The son of the late Eric Hubert and Dorotha Helen Griffith Watkins, Roger was born October 26, 1944 at Kermit, Texas and went to his eternal home on April 5, 2021.


A graduate of Plainview High School, class of 1963, Roger attended Murray State College and received an associate degree.  He served in US Army and was honorably discharged in 1968.


He married the former Marsha Teresa Callahan May 13, 1974 in Gainesville, Texas.  She preceded him in death December 5, 2008.  He was also preceded in death by his brother John Elmer Watkins.


Roger began working at Spann Chevrolet.  He then began a career that spanned 23 years with the United States Post Office as a Carrier.  He always had a smile when delivering the mail to the many friends he made in career.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore.


He is survived by his son Dr. Steven Watkins and his wife Mistye; daughter Kelli Spencer; his grandsons, Jacob and Caleb Spencer and Austin and Gavin Watkins, and his sister Susan Harry.


Honorary bearers will be Paul Stewart, Eric Taylor, Ron Brown, Arnold Muncrief, Eddie Gillispie, and Waylon Morris.


The family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund in Roger's name.

him Roger Dodger. And when I seen him in
Ardmore he would talk your leg off. He will
