Roger Jerome Whitaker, age 66 of Tazewell, Tenn., was born August 13, 1947, and passed away March 15, 2014. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Tazewell, but most of all he was a loving father. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert Jerome and Nevada Goins Whitaker.
He is survived by his daughter: Cynthia Gail Whitaker Petty and husband Wendell "Doc" Petty of Blaine, Tenn. Sons: Michael Jerome and wife Tuesday Whitaker of Seymour, Tenn.; Kevin Alexander Whitaker of Rutledge, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans at 2600 Holbrook Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918.
Graveside service was 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at East Tennessee Veteran Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn.
