AVERY, Roland Maxwell Jr., 83, left us to be with the Lord Friday, October 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Maxwell Avery Sr. and Thelma Fowler Avery. He is survived by his son, James Warren Avery; daughter, Angeline Avery Richmond; and stepson, Steven Jeffrey Smith. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Jeff, Carter, Patience, Patricia, Riley, Aliyah, Danny, Tony, Matt, Steven and Dylan. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Pharmacists Mate Third Class from 1946-1948. He attended the University of Richmond and graduated with an accounting degree in 1952. He was last employed as a Comptroller with J.W.Fergusson and Sons, Inc. He continued doing private tax consulting until 2009. He was a devoted family man with a humorous soul. He is dearly missed, but is comforted in the Lord's love and grace. A service will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va. 23002, on Wednesday the October 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any remembrances be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
