W. Lebanon, Maine - Roland Dubois, 85, of 23 Cat Fish Lane, died Friday October 1, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a period of failing health.

Roland was born in Somersworth, NH on August 29, 1919 and was the son of Onezime and Laura (Lalibertie) Dubois. He was raised in Somersworth and was a graduate of St. Martin Academy and Commercial School.

He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He was a Staff Sgt. with the 1st Company of the 304th Infantry Regiment. He was a part of the European Theatre and was involved with campaigns in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe with the final push all the way into Germany.

Roland was a TV repairman and was an owning partner of Dick and Roland Television Sales and Service of Somersworth. After retiring from the business with 20 years of service, He went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Electronics Shop # 67 and stayed with the yard for 15 years.

Active in veteran’s affairs, He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 of Somersworth and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars of Somersworth. Roland was also a member of the Eagles.

Roland was also a past member of the Somersworth City Council where he served multi terms as a Ward 5 Councilman. He was also the first councilman in the city to serve in the position as Mayor Pro-tem

He will always be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, a very loving and patient Father and Grandfather. A man who could fix anything both electrically and mechanically. He will be truly missed by those who knew him.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Mary Murphy of W. Lebanon, Maine. Two Sons, Joseph Dubois and his wife Paula of S. Berwick, Maine, John “Jack” Dubois of Somersworth, NH and Thomas “Tom” Dubois of Dover. Two daughters, Marian Perreault and her husband Marc of Milton, NH and Nancy Gilman and her husband Gary of Pittsfield, NH. He also leaves a brother Raoul J. Dubois and a sister Mrs. Martin (Theresa) Grondin both of Somersworth. 11 grand children, 6 great grand children, several cousins, nephews and nieces. Roland was predeceased by a brother Odilon “Tibee” Dubois, a sister Cecile Gagne and by his son Roland Gilbert Dubois who died in 1966.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH will be on Sunday from 4 to 7pm. Veteran’s Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00am in Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Somersworth, NH.
