Not sure what to say?

2/9/2025 Roland, I still think of you and Majorie often. The Point has never been the same. I recall so many memories with you both and they give me joy and warmth of heart each time I look back to those days. I have been blessed to have had you both in my life . I truly miss you. Love, Cindy

I know this is ridiculously late, but I am writing to tell you that I have fond memories of flying with your Dad in a sailplane off Harris Hill. I was a teenager then and got to fly with him sometime from 1968- 1973. I could tell he was a fascinating man - just never knew the back story. What a privilege to have known and actually flown in the same plane with him.
Thank you for sharing him with us up on the Hill. I mentioned his name in the article I wrote for Soaring magazine in July...

I was away past winter, this evening I was sitting outside with my wife Kathy, who met Roland and took to him and his wife immediately. For some reason I thought of him and I typed his name on my I pad his obituary came up. I feel like I let my friend Roland down by not getting to see him and his beautiful wife one last time he was one of the few heroes I've met in my life who sacrificed so much for my family, country, and me. I loved him

Dear Marj:

Arlene and I would like to send our deepest sympathy to you and your family over the loss of your dear Roland. We were recently made aware of this as we now live in FL. I spoke with other friends of mine who also worked with Roland during our tenure at Grinnell and remembered some fond stories. Arlene and I also remembered you and Roland taking your trips across American in that little trailer.

We prey you find solice during this difficult time knowing we are...

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember the two of you taking walks in the neighborhood. May his angel wings keep him flying high.

Sincerely,
Peggy Wardle

To Marj, Carl and all of the Family,

I was truly saddened by Roland's passing. He and Marj had been my neighbors for many, many years. It is with a deep sense of admiration for his life achievements that I shall always be able to reflect on our friendship and commonalities. Roland was one of the hero's of our Country and certainly of our hearts. I shall cherish our friendship always and shall miss him dearly.

May you all find the wisdom and strength to deal with your loss....

Randy... May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Your grandfathers journey in life was the kind of journey you read in history books...

You are all in our prayers

Mrs Stumpff and family,
I am sorry for your loss. What a fascinating gentleman who did indeed live his life to the fullest. Thank you Mr. Stumpff for your service and to his family for sharing this great story.
