New London - Rolante Anoba Fulgueras, 84, of 151 Norwood Ave., New London, died Nov. 19 2011, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, surrounded by his loving family. His death was the result of suffering a stroke on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.

Rolly was born in Zambales, Philippines, on June 11, 1927. He was recruited by the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent his entire 24 years of naval service in the submarine force, Submarine Force Atlantic, stationed permanently in the Groton/New London area. He retired as a chief petty officer. He then transitioned into the civilian workforce, working as a registrar at the Groton Post Office for many years.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Danao Fulgueras of New London.

Rolly is survived by his four loving children, Amanda Helen Dariano, Rolante Fulgueras Jr., Mary Blyden, and Roy Fulgueras; also sons-in-law, James Blyden and Rudy Dariano; daughters-in-law, Patricia Fulgueras, Carolyn Fulgueras, and Pamela Masters; two granddaughters, Christine Dariano Coons and her husband, Michael Coons, and recently married, Caroline Dariano Spaulding and her husband, Russell Spaulding Jr.; grandsons, Michael Dariano, Ryan and Ross Fulgueras, Ryan Joseph and Robbie Anoba Fulgueras, Robert Lingerfelt; and great-grandson, Jason Dariano; sister-in-law, Judy Danao; nephew, Joseph Danao II; niece, Sharleen Danao Scoggins; and many relatives and friends here and abroad.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Huntington St., New London.Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
