Romalee Boyd Strang, 95 of Lavaca, AR passed away November 8, 2016 at her home. She was born August 31, 1921 at Vesta, AR to the late Romeo and Lucy Mathis Boyd. She was a graduate of Mansfield High School and was the Valedictorian. She was a long time member of Lavaca Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a longtime member of Goddard United Methodist Church. She served on the General Board of Global Ministries, was President of the Church Women United Committee ,and served on several district boards of United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher with a master's degree having taught in Mansfield, Lavaca and Fort Smith School Systems. Romalee was a member of Arkansas Retired Teacher's Organization and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, She was active with the Farm Bureau Women's Committee. On December 21, 1947 she married James A. Strang. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Pauline Holland and three brothers, Arden, Frank and Arthur Boyd. Funeral services will be held 10AM Friday at Smith Mortuary chapel, burial will follow in the Lavaca City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband James A. Strang; her daughter Sharon Jones and husband Davey of Sheridan, AR; two sons Rev. Lynn Strang and wife Enola of Lavaca, Rev. Paul Strang and wife Alisa of Fairfield Bay, Ar; one sister Irma Overton and husband Earl of Mansfield, AR and eight grandchildren, David Strang, Jonathan Strang, Caitlyn Voss and husband Jason Voss, Lauren Strang, Makala Strang, Daniel Strang, J.W. Jones, and Chris Jones and many nieces and nephews. Grandsons and Jason Voss will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 Pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Lavaca United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 287, Lavaca, AR 72941.

I am so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Strang was a wonderful lady and a great teacher when I was in 1st grade. My thoughts and prayers are with you and in your family in this time of sorrow.

Dear Family of Romalee......she was a dear lady - always enjoyed seeing her at our SSA gatherings. She is 'at home' now as we shall all be sooner than we know. God Bless You.

I loved Mrs. Strang...she was so sweet and kind and always had a smile for everyone.
My condolences to the family and prayers will be going up for you all. Irma Overton was my first grade teacher ..this Overton and Strang family are very dear to me and my family.
Farm Bureau also holds this family near and dear to our hearts also... Mrs. Strang will be greatly missed.
