Ron H. Zachary, Sr. of Crawfordsville passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, April 26.  He was 68.


Ron liked to play golf and enjoyed sports of all kinds.  He worked at Hyster for 18 years and then at Lithonia/ Acuity for 30 years, retiring in March of 2016.


Born Jan. 25, 1951 in Crawfordsville he was the son of Fred Atwood Zachary and Crystal Hortense Runion Zachary.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School.  He married Pam Walters and she survives.


Ron was a loving family man who will be missed by all his surviving family, which includes: wife, Pam Zachary; son, Ron Zachary Jr. (Tisha); daughter, Chrystina Russell; daughter, Buffie Voorhees (Matt); son, Mark Zachary (Alicia); step-daughters, Karmon Barger (Justis), Kelsey Case (Brad); seventeen grandchildren, Jesika, Devon, Ashlynn, Sidney, Colton, Jacob, Jazmen, Colin, Kadin, Abby, Case, Zeke, Annie, Rachel, McKenzie, Reagan and Kenna.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tyler and Allie.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, May 2 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue.  Services will be at 10 AM Friday, May 3rd at the funeral home, led by Pastor Mark Stevens. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Ron was a super guy - no nonsense, straightforward, and he cared. We worked together at Lithonia/Acuity and his dedication to work well done was evident. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed by family and friends. God bless you, Pam and all those that are grieving.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear husband, father, and grandfather. Ive known Ron since I was four and lived next door. Our family also loved his mother, Crystal. I know all of you will miss him terribly. Im also friends with his former wife, Wanda. Ill keep all of you in my prayers.

Ron was truly one of my best friends I had. We shared a lot of good times that I'll never forget. I was blessed to have him in my life. My golfing buddy!!
