Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home - Sunman Obituary

Ronald R. Barnhart, age 69 of Sunman, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Margaret Mary Health, Batesville. He was born July 5, 1953 in Lykens, PA to Ronald and Connie Lou (Schomper) Barnhart. After graduating from Princeton High School, Ronald worked as a finish carpenter in the Cincinnati area. On October 18, 1980 Ronald married Jenny Hutson at St. Johns UCC in Reading, OH. After marriage they moved to Pennsylvania where Ronald worked as an underground Coal Miner. After leaving the PA coal mines the family moved to the Sunman area. After the move he started driving a semi dump trailer. He then transitioned to hauling hazardous material for MC Tank. Ronald retired from trucking, and went to work for Sunman Dearborn School Corporation as a special needs’ bus driver. The children on his route found the soft spot in Ronald and won his heart. Ronald loved the children and transporting them to and from school.

Ronald was a hard-working man enjoying a simple life just staying home, but always up for a visit from his grandchildren. He enjoyed reading and watching TV. If there was a Barrett Jackson Auto Auction, or any auto auction on TV you would find him in his easy chair watching.   He was a proud owner of two classic vehicles himself. Ronald enjoyed nature, keeping an eye open for the return of the hummingbirds every year.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Jenny; son, Ronald (Sharon) Barnhart of Greendale; daughter, Rachelle (Keith) Joerger of St. Leon; grandchildren, William and Lydia Joerger.  Brother, Gary (Janie) Barnhart of West Chester, OH; Sister, Cindy (Fred) Osborne of Cincinnati; sister, Robin (Edward) Hess of Cincinnati and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved uncle Robert Barnhart.

To respect and honor the wishes of Ronald, the family has chosen cremation with a private memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions can be directed to Sunman Area Life Squad.
