EAST PEORIA - Ronald D. Barnhill, 71, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away at 10:01 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
Ronald was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Ballard County, Ky., to Virley and Applileen (Rollins) Barnhill.
He graduated from East Peoria Community High School.
Ronald married Jeannie Ruth King on April 20, 1962, in East Peoria. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by children, Rod (Dona) Barnhill of Troy, Mo., Rick (Julie) Barnhill of Galesburg, Ill., Trisha (Mark) Lowman of Nauvoo, Ill., Tammie (Jeremy) Stedman of Tremont, Ill.; brother, Bobby (Carolyn) Barnhill of East Peoria, Ill.; sister, Joan (Larry) Cunningham of Blairsville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Gloria Barnhill of East Peoria, Ill.; grandchildren, Brett and Corey (Emily) Barnhill, Kristen (Andy) Draughan, Ricky (Brittani) Barnhill, Patrick Barnhill, Luke and Jacob Lowman, and Logan and Chase Stedman; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clifford Barnhill.
Ronald worked for Caterpillar Inc. as a welder for more than 30 years and retired in 2004.
He was a member of the McArthur Drive Baptist Church.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
He loved to play music. He also enjoyed traveling, watching Western movies, hunting and fishing. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services for Ronald will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at McArthur Drive Baptist Church in North Pekin. Pastor Bobby Barnhill will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at church. Burial will be held in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth, Ill.

So sorry to hear about Ron's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. He will always be special to me. Growing up he treated me like part of the family and that meant so much to me. We had some great conversations over the past few years and I will truly miss him.

We are so very sorry for your families loss, but know that Ron is now rejoicing in his heavenly home! He was such a blessing to me & such a great mentor.
