MT. GILEAD, NC – Ronald B. Bishop, Jr., a former Chicopee resident, passed away on May 26, 2016 in his home in Mt. Gilead, NC. Born in Lincoln, NE on October 9, 1961, Ron was the son of the late Ronald B., Sr. and Marie P. (Murphy) Bishop. He attended Chicopee schools for part of his education and was graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1980. Upon graduation, Ron enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he proudly served for more than 4 years as a Corrosion Control Specialist. Moving to NC over 20 years ago, Ron was self-employed in the areas of Leathermaking, Gunsmithing and had most recently opened his own bakery and quickly became known for his talents as a Pastry Chef. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph K. Bishop who passed away on June 9, 2001. Ron is survived by a son, Ronald B. "Ben" Bishop, III of Oklee, MN three grandchildren, Savanna, Ashley and Wyatt Bishop, two brothers, John J. Bishop of Springfield and Daniel G. Bishop of Chicopee, a niece, Katelyn Bishop of Chicopee and his best friends, Tony and Gayle Ribeiro and their children, all of Holyoke. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee followed by a graveside service in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery on Olson St. in the Aldenville section at 2.
