Ron Books was a good friend, a fellow teammate, and a champion. Ron personified what the members of the World Champion Pittsburgh Gold Senior Softball Team are all about.
He wasn't the biggest player on the field, he didn't hit the monsterous home runs, but he had the biggest heart. When the time came that poor health cut his playing career short, he continued to travel with the team and was a constant source of inspiration to all of us with his "never quit" attitude.
