Ronald Walker Cripps ("Ronaldo") passed on August 31, 2011, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born March 1, 1961, in Nanaimo; predeceased by his father Walker, mother Shirley and sister Lori; survived by his loving brother Russell, sister-in-law Rachel and his three nephews, Brady, Boston and Brock, whom he truly loved being with, and his many friends including Wendy, Chris and Janet, Lorne, John, Greg R and many other close friends from near and far.
Ron was always the one that kept life simple--"No Fire, No Danger!". He loved travelling and meeting new friends on whatever adventure he took. He enjoyed spending time with his nephews, whether at a sporting event or just hanging out in the yard. He loved watching sports, including Sunday football and his "Bucs" and especially his beloved Canucks and "Tweedlers!"
A fireman by trade, Ron began his career by attending school in California and later working all over the world, including his last position as Fire Marshall in Fort Simpson, NWT. Ron will be dearly missed by all. "Enshallah!"
In lieu of flowers, donations to BC Children's Hospital appreciated. No service by request.
This obituary was originally published in the Nanaimo Daily News and Harbour City Star (Nanaimo, BC).

I loved this man and feel so sad that I had to find out about his death by searching "Google". I wondered why he wasn't answering my emails. I had known him since 2000 and got to be so close, as friends. Yes, I do remember what a positive individual he was. We met in Yellowknife, NT.

The tears come so freely at this time, as I feel I have waited way to long for this. Ron and you have been in my thoughts for many years. Last November in Nanaimo I seen a firefighters jacket with the name "Cripps" on the back, when I called out, the firefighter hopped into the truck and was gone. We were at a Wedding and the bride was taken to the hospital. Sometimes thing happen that are unexpected and today I'm wondering why I never ran after that man in the jacket. We would of loved to...

Hi Russ, Ron was always so proud of you. Didn't see Ron very much in the last few years but my memories are that big smile, inner strength and strong wit. My condolences to you and your family.

I MISS YOU BIG BROTHER! EACH AND EVERY DAY I REFLECT ON WHAT “YOU” GAVE ME FOR WHO I AM TODAY. AS YOU KNOW IT STARTED WITH YOU TEACHING ME THE SIMPLE THINGS AND BALANCE IN LIFE; PLAYING SPORTS…GOING FISHING AND CAMPING, TAKING IN A HOCKEY OR FOOTBALL GAME, LIVE OR ON TV, AND MOST IMPORTANT WAS BEING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, WHICH THESE TRAITS OF YOURS WILL BE PASSED ON… YOUR NEPHEWS ARE VERY LUCK TO HAVE AN UNCLE LIKE YOU! My very deepest sympathies to Ron's family and friends. I'm glad that Ron's life, 'tho far too short, brought happiness to so many, and that he grew up to be a man who enjoyed life in "big bites". Good choice in hockey teams, too, Ron! I was a teacher of Lori's (typing and old-school shorthand) at Wellington. Wendy Rice (formerly Wendy Schram)
