Ronald 'Ron' Eldred

RONALD 'RON' W. ELDRED, age 70, longtime businessman, auctioneer and real estate broker in Long Prairie, MN passed away on Sat., Oct. 8, 2016 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held next Monday, Oct. 17 at 11:00 am at the American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Visitation hours are at the church from 4 – 8 pm on Sunday evening and also one hour prior to the service. Ron was born on April 25, 1946 to Robert and Lucille Eldred in Round Prairie, MN. He graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1964. He started Ron Eldred Mobile Homes north of Long Prairie and sold mobile homes until 1970. He moved to Prescott, AZ where he developed and sold Shadow Meadows Subdivision in Chino Valley, AZ. On September 9, 1972 Ron married Darlene (Wald). They lived in AZ until 1976 when they moved back to Long Prairie. Ron got his real estate broker's license and owned and operated Ron Eldred Realty. He was proud to be an auctioneer for many years working with his father, Bob. Ron and Darlene purchased Fairview Mobile Home Court 38 years ago. Ron has been an inspiration and friend to many renters, young and old, in the Court. Ron had an energetic personality and loved challenges. He loved to travel. His adventurous spirit made flying his airplanes a passion that he enjoyed for many years. He was always looking for a good deal, buying and selling. Ron was a great conversationalist who made new friends wherever he went. He had a kind heart and non-judgmental nature. Ron enjoyed watching football games and boxing matches. He was most proud of his family and so loved his wife, children, their spouses, and his grandkids. He always told Darlene how grateful he was for her loving care the last couple of years. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years Darlene Eldred of Browerville; his son and daughter-in-law Grant and Ruthanne Eldred of Clearwater; and his daughter and son-in-law Jill and Mike Peterson of Sartell; four grandchildren, Ian and Elise Eldred of Clearwater, and Addison and Ronni Marie of Sartell; siblings Diane & Jim Cherry, Pam & Gary Schneekloth, Glenda & Jerry Lucas, Chuck & Nancy Eldred all of Long Prairie, Kim and Cheryree Eldred of Louisburg, KS; many nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Lucille Eldred, and sister Candace Eldred. Visitation will be at American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie from 4:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Memorial services will be held for Ron on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at American Lutheran Church with Reverand Bill Bakewicz officiating. Musicians: Deb Wald, Duane Breiter, and Ruth Zinter Honorary bearers are Mike Reger, Jim Elmes, Joe Hennen, Gary Muenzhuber, Tim Dally, and Duane Breiter.
