Read MoreI knew Ron and Lorena when they mined their Basin Creek claims with their small floating dredge during the 1980s and 1990s. Both were tremendously knowledgeable about mining history in the Nome district. They offered great hospitality to this visiting geologist. Ron also assisted the Alaska Mining Hall of Fame with potential new inductees. Both will be fondly remembered.

I’m so sorry to read of Ron’s passing. He was a kind and generous person who lived life on his own terms and got things done. I would have liked to visit with him at least one more time. I can bring my shovel when the time comes.
