Ron was a friend from SHSU. In 1969 we had classes together and had our own veterans support group. Even though we lost touch through years I saw the newspaper and was deeply saddened, and I had to be there today. I am glad I knew him.

Darlene and family,
My heart hurts for your loss. I send loving prayers for your hearts to be comforted by our Heavenly Father. If ever any man is in heaven, it is your sweet Ron. I have the deepest respect for "RUM" He was a wonderful example of a God fearing man, and a wonderful husband. I was fortunate enough to call him my friend. I have many beautiful memories, and tons of laughter that will stay with me forever. He loved to smile and laugh. He had a contagious personality, that was sure to lift your spirits. I know he is in heaven and his name was written in gold. I think he is most likely fishing ;) he loved to fish!!They do not come finer than Ron. He set great examples of love, tenderness, laughter and true friendship. He always had great advice and took the time, many times to share his wisdom with me. I feel it a blessing of every minute we shared. He never cared what you wore or how much money you had. He loved you just the same. He never tried to impress you with what he had or who he was. his actions said it all. a very noble man. A man that loved his family and friends and was always there when you needed him. I shall never forget our sweet sweet "Rum". God Bless you and your family at this time of loss, and may the sweetest of memories always keep him alive in everyone's heart. Darlene and Family, There are those moments in life which stand out in one's mind- Those spent with our pack, led by Ron, are many of them to us. Hopefully his quick passing will make it a little easier for us all to remember him for the man he's always been- a loving and colorful man of beauty and strength leading family and friends to create fun and loving memories together .
