Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home - Media Obituary

Ronald “Ron” William Hagarty, age 69, passed away at his home in Boothwyn, PA on May 25th, 2024 surrounded by love. He had bravely fought a difficult yet inspirational battle against metastatic cancer for much of the previous decade, always determined to spend more time with his family and make more lasting memories.

Ron was born August 8th,1954 in Collingdale and was a graduate of Collingdale High School in 1972. He married Peggy Trepkus in 1977 and they raised their three children in Boothwyn. He was a member of St. John Fisher parish. Ron worked as an auto mechanic and in automotive service departments for Rothrock and Thomas Chevrolet over the years. He had a lifelong passion for cars, always tinkering with his own vehicles and keeping them in pristine condition.

Ron was a fan of all professional sports teams who call Philadelphia their home, through all their ups and downs. He was an avid golfer who loved spending a beautiful day outside on the course. He enjoyed trips to Stone Harbor at the Jersey Shore and driving along Skyline Drive in Virginia. Ron liked to learn new things every day, and had a ‘do-it-yourself’ spirit that he often applied to problems big and small around the house. He enjoyed photography and painting, and had a strong interest in aviation and space travel, enjoying visits to aerospace museums with
iconic craft on display. He also loved animals and treated all of his family’s pets over the years, such as Fuzzy, Goober, and Snoopy, as true family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret “Peggy” Trepkus-Hagarty, father Joseph B. Hagarty, mother Bobra Linderman-Hagarty, and sister Cheryl Hagarty-Prinster. He is survived by his son Shannon Joseph Hagarty (Stephanie), his daughters Danielle Lisa and Michelle Nicole Hagarty, his sisters Sandra Hagarty-DeJesse and Lynda Hagarty-Zearfoss, and his dogs Kobe, Bryce, and Mr. Feeny.

Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to fight cancer in Ron’s memory.
