Ron Hall passed away suddenly in Davis, CA on Jan. 31, 2018. Ron was born in Canada and lived there until the family came to the USA in 1953. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1959. He served in the Peace Corp for two years (1962-64) in the Philippines, then attended the University of California, Riverside and earned a B.A. degree. He was a teacher from 1969-80, then had a long career in pest control sales. He married Cres Martinez in 1968 and they divorced after several years. He is survived by his only sibling Nelson Hall, step-daughter Georgie Martinez, and niece Carla Hall.
Ron had many talents. He published a book (Gravity Revealed) in 1998; studied martial arts; was an artist, researcher, and great story teller.
He loved to be with animals, especially dogs and horses. He lived and worked on a ranch in the Napa area for several years. His main interests were going to the gym, reading, research, and hanging out at Peet's coffee house. He was a peace activist and stood for justice. He was a compassionate soul always helping others.
His immediate family members and close friends will miss him greatly. They will remember his dignity, kindness, sharpness of mind, and compassion for others.
Please honor Ron's life by carrying on with his spirit and live peacefully.

Tomorrow, March 7th, 2018, Ron's ashes will be spread by Neptune Society at sea per his wishes near the Golden Gate Bridge area coves ,San Francisco, Ca. Our daughter Carla Hall will see the boat off receiving flowers and burial certificate for Ron. She will represent all who knew Ron but could not attend. Thanks to all who knew him and loved him. Ron, I didn't get to know you personally, or even directly. But I was lucky to witness firsthand your impact on the life of someone very dear to me. Your legacy of kindness, compassion and joy are well intact. May your eternal life give you all the love you gave to others in this one.

Very sorry to find that I will not be seeing Ron again in this life. Didn't know him well but enjoyed discussions with him on a wide range of topics. I always looked forward to seeing Ron at the Davis Athletic Club over the past 15 years. As a strange coincidence, Ron passed away on the second anniversary of my mother's passing. Last time I saw Ron was at Peet's a month or two ago. He was, as usual, holding court with everyone and anyone who wandered by. Always ready to offer advice and friendship. Ron will be missed.

I am beyond sad to hear about my great friend Ron. Mr Hall meant so very much to me. Years ago I met Ron at the gym he helped me in so many ways, martial arts , basketball & lifting weights. We spent many many hours together at Peets coffee teaching me about the brain and so many other things. I remember asking him what does this word mean what does that word mean he would say look it up , I remember saying well I don't have a dictionary he pulled his own well used dictionary out of his briefcase and gave it to me which I still have to this day. I love you Ron you're one of the best people I've ever met my life you will be sadly missed. You are a warrior !!

Ron and I were buddies from childhood, We enjoyed each others company playing games, being mischievous, and just being boys. We were popular with our peers, and when he departed to live in California,there was definitely a void in my life. A few times in our teenage years Ron came back to visit, and he always wanted to see all of his old friends. During our adult years we caught up with each other in Winnipeg, California, or Nevada, always having fun and reminiscing about our childhood years. Ron was a principled, honest supporter of the lesser people. He was so very wise in so many ways. I am so sorry that he has passed, and I now search for him to fill the void in my heart. My sincerest sympathies to all who knew and loved him.
