Not sure what to say?

I met Ron 3 years ago when I stepped into his classroom. We became instant friends and shared many stories of life, nature, faith and politics. He was a sweet man with a witty streak, yet very philosophical at the same time. I loved digging deep on issues of importance... and working through complex social issues. I enjoyed our coffee breaks, and light hearted banter, too. He was dear to me and to my growth as a human. As I watched his illness take over his body, his heart and spritely spirit...

I will always remember Dr. Jenkins as the first person who met our graduate anesthesia group in the Sciencecenter that first day of class in June 2004. He passed along a passion for life and learning that will never be forgotten. May the peace of God be with his family during this difficult time.

I will always remember Dr Jenkins with warm thoughts. He was a very kind man. I feel very privileged that our paths crossed on this side of the great divide.

Ronnie and I grew up together in Decatur. We went to elementary, high school and church together.I was very sorry to learn of his death. I have nothing but fond memories of him. He was always a wonderful friend to me and I was blessed to have known him.

Dr. J will always be remebered. I regret not getting to know him sooner than I did. Only knowing him for one semester, it was definitely evident through his teaching that he was dedicated to academia and educating his students. He remained dedicated up until the end, even going climbing up Oak Mountain with our class the week before he left us. He may have physically left us, but he will always remain inside of everyone that he came in contact with.

Dr. Jenkins was a great person who was filled with joy. I will always remember him fondly. He did many things to make Birmingham and its surrounding areas beautiful. He will be missed.

A great man has graced all our lives with his intelligence, love, and enthusiasm. In reading all these wonderful tributes to Dr. J, these same attributes keep repeating, because they so well defined his character. We have only wonderful memories of Dr. J because he lived his life SO FULLY and taught us how to as well. He knew just how to spark your interests in ANY branch of the biological sciences just from his own deep fascination of the subject matter he was currently studying, even...

What a privilege to have been taught by such an exceptional educator. Dr. Jenkins went above the call to make sure each student understood the material. His smile and laugh will certainly be missed at Samford. May the Jenkins' family feel God's love and peace at this time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Jenkins, also known to the CRNA class as Dr. J was a brilliant professor, and a good friend. He had a passion for teaching the subjects he loved and made the toughest learning situations enjoyable. He loved his students and always brought an enthusiastic attitude to class. I have never met a professor who had such a broad knowledge of science, and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from such a person. I know he is in a better place now, and I bet you he is telling a...
