MANCHESTER - Ronald T. "Ron" Kaled, 64, of Manchester, died May 15, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Kaled was born in Manchester on June 11, 1948, and was the son of Thomas and Rose A. (Ine) Kaled. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High, class of 1966, and was a star basketball player and earned the nick-name "Big Kat." He was an avid Boston sports enthusiast following all the teams. He had been a season ticket holder of the Monarchs and Fisher Cats. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with BAE Systems for many years.

Members of the family include his companion of 12 years, Janet Palen, and her daughter Katie Pichette, both of Manchester; one uncle, John Ine of Manchester; and two aunts, Joan Ine of Manchester, and Madeline Saba of Bedford; also, Dolly Edwards of Manchester, and several cousins and many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his mother Rose A Kaled, who died March 25, 2012.

services: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Cain & Janosz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 74 Brook St., corner of Pine Street, Manchester. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with a burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
