Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home - Sebring Obituary

Ronald Archibald Lennox, 88, of Sebring, Florida, passed away on January 13, 2025. Born on October 16, 1936, in Mount Savage, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Mary Walker Lennox. He attended LaSalle High School, Cumberland, MD where he played football and baseball and was a 1958 graduate of Frostburg State Teacher's College, Frostburg, MD.

Following graduation, Ron moved to Frederick, MD and was employed at Frederick High School as a beloved English teacher and football coach.  In 1967 Ron transitioned to State Farm Insurance Seaboard Region, in Frederick, MD as an Underwriter.  He later became the Agency Training Director and was integral in the program's development.  Ron retired as a State Farm Insurance Agent in 2016.  He and Bonnie spent years building the agency and providing trusted service to his clients in and around Glen Burnie, MD.

A long-time snowbird who fell in love with Florida, Ron became a permanent resident of Sebring in 2016, after spending winters there since 1995.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Lennox; his loving children: Valerie Dailey (Doug) of St. Petersburg, FL, Laura Lennox (Ted Beall) of Frederick, MD, and Ronnie Lennox (Mandi) of Frederick, MD. He also leaves behind his cherished brothers, Robert Lennox, Edward Lennox, sister-in-law Brenda Davis (Gene) and brother-in-law Brad Watkins (Amber). He was predeceased by brother Reginald Lennox.  He is survived by seven grandchildren: Garrett Dailey (Lauren), Victoria Dudiak (Cara), Alison Dailey (fiance’ Bradley Hanson), Reghan Lennox, Loghan Lennox, Emily Poss and Noah Poss, who have given him great joy over the years. He leaves behind five great grandchildren: Nixon Dailey, Violet Dailey, Juniper Dailey, Camden Dailey and Archibald (Archie) Dudiak….his namesake, born January 1, 2025.

As an avid sports fan, Ron found great pleasure in cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame football teams. In his leisure time, Ron enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of Holly Hills Country Club, Ijamsville, MD, Harder Hall Golf Club and the Country Club of Sebring, Sebring, FL.  He also had a keen interest in sports cars and attended the 12 Hours of Sebring race for many years.  Ron was often seen at his favorite restaurant, Dutch’s Daughter, Frederick, MD enjoying a delicious crab cake and a glass of Beringer White Zinfandel.  His hobbies reflected his zest for life and pursuit of adventure.

Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He fought til the end, like his adored “Fighting Irish”.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, 4001 Sebring Parkway, Sebring, FL. Pastor Matt Wheelock will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.

Not sure what to say?

Bonnie, Val, and Ronnie: so sorry to read about Mr. Lennox. Seems like he had quite the life! At least he was able to enjoy some retirement years in Florida. May God, friends and family comfort you during your grief. Hold on to the memories, and your loved on will always live in your heart.

My condolences and prayers to you and your family

Good memories for sure.
See you soon.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

I work with his lovely daughter Valerie with whom I’ve built a fond friendship. As a result, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Lennox last year around Thanksgiving. He was quietly enjoying the giggling of his great grandchildren and the background chatter of family (while relishing in the deliciousness of chips and salsa).

Although our meeting was brief, I could tell how much love he felt towards his family and likewise, how much his family loved him in return. It was an honor to...

Bonnie, my condolences to you and your family, all of whom were so treasured by Ron.

Always enjoyed Ron's quiet company, he was a gentleman and will be missed.

Dear Bonnie and family, I know Ted has expressed our sympathy to you but I also wanted to reach out. It is hard to believe Ron has passed even though I know he dealt with health issues. I have known Ron since he started teaching at FHS! Seems like just yesterday. You took great care of Ron and truly loved him every second of every day. God bless.
