Not sure what to say?

Ron became a sort of stepson to my sisters' and my father. Our family admired and respected him for many years as a man of humor, intelligence, and compassion. His was a life of love, well and meaningfully lived. Late condolences, now, to his daughters.

I was Professor Link's summer research assistant in 1976. He tried to drive me crazy with his law review article on The Rule in Wild's Case, and I tried to torment him checking and rechecking authorities dating to the 16th Century. In the years since I've never met a more studious lawyer or a better person. Will always cherish the time I worked for him.

Ron was a good long-term friend. We played together while in grade school at Leal. Then, we played golf (I badly, he not so much better), little league / police baseball, and basketball at Uni. He said later that he should have played more tennis in Urbana since he took it up later in life and loved it as a vigorous sport. We enjoyed singing ("La Vie en Rose" at a Uni Carnival our Senior year, I forgot some of the French lyrics but Ron sang in my ear). We lived within blocks around Blair...

I´m so sorry to hear of Professor Link´s passing. I have very fond memories of him during my tenure at UNC School of Law from `86 to `89. He was my Trusts and Estates professor, but also a wonderful resource and kind advisor. I will never forget his generosity of spirit and his unwavering encouragement.

I met Ron when we were six years old, riding our tricycles around the neighborhood. For reasons I have long forgotten, we wound up throwing dirt clods at each other. Nevertheless, we soon became close friends, as did our parents. Ron was, except for my brother, my best friend from first grade all the way through college. When we started high school, there was a girl in our class named Sue. Ron soon fell for her and was never interested in anyone else. He and Sue were definitely made for...

Ron and Sue and I were classmates (in a 37 member class) at Uni High in Urbana, Illinois. Ron and I knew each other more than 70 years. By coincidence, I went to UNC Law School, graduating in 1967, several years before he and Sue got there. We stayed in touch and saw each other periodically throughout the years, including Zoom calls of our surviving high school class members during the COVID pandemic. Ron was warm, humorous, kind and wonderfully down to earth, notwithstanding his...

To Ron's family, I express my condolences on his passing. He was my favorite teacher while at UNC Law 1971-1974. A gentleman in every way. His wit and easy going manner made the subject of real property interesting. As a practitioner for almost 50 years, I hope I have put to good use many of the lessons I learned from him. He will be missed by many. Ken Eagle

I grew up with Sue--just a few cottages away from us at Epworth...and of course knew Ron from Epworth. When Ron answered my "big" questions, I could always count on a thoughtful, memorable response. I remember commenting when he and Sue moved into a retirement community that perhaps they were too young. His response, "Joan, you can choose to move 5 years too early or 5 minutes too late. Better to be too early..." And Ron was always a voice of reason and wisdom at Epworth. He will be sorely...
