Ronald Linn Obituary

Ronald Joseph Linn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in his home at the age of 86. Ronnie is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia Mercante Linn; and his three daughters, Donna Linn Degan (Michael), Susan Linn Tichenor (Rolla IV), and Patricia Ann Linn; his two grandchildren, Christina Marie Tichenor, and Rolla A. "Beau" Tichenor V (Lisa); and two great-grandchildren, Rolla A. "Roman" Tichenor VI and Christian Anthony Tichenor; and his cousin, Elaine Petrie. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas Matthew Linn, Jr. and Myrtle Ruth Petrie; and his brother, Louis A. Linn, Sr. Born in New Orleans, Ronnie graduated from St. Aloysius High School, attended Loyola University School of Business Administration and proudly served his country for 13 years in the Louisiana Air National Guard, beginning in 1953. He was a parishioner of St. Angela of Merici Catholic Church for 44 years and served as an usher, attended and volunteered at the Manresa House of Retreat, and served as president of the St. Louis King of France School Board from 1971-1975. He was devoted to the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and lived his Catholic faith throughout his life. Ronnie followed horse racing with a passion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and playing golf as a member of St. John Golf Club and Cypress National Golf Club. He and Pat loved to travel with family and friends, especially on their 26 cruises. He was a successful businessman, was an owner of a local automotive equipment company, and was a national sales representative for Manitowoc Lifts. Ronnie was the most wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was strong in his faith, loved his family, and proudly served his country. He cherished his family and lead by example with love, kindness, and strength. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20th, with a Catholic Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Angela of Merici Church in Metairie. Burial will be private.
