Not sure what to say?

In 1964 my family moved to Juneau; my father was the Assistant Superintendent of schools and my mother taught at the High School. Mr. Maas was our realtor, and became a dear friend to us, taking us on many excursions on his boat, catching salmon, and looking for bear. We only stayed one year, but a lifetime of memories were made, thanks in large part to Ron Maas.

I was so sad to hear of Ron´s death....he certainly had a wonderful, exciting life. We sat together starting in 1968 in the Juneau Little Symphony ....he played trumpet and I French horn. My husband and I went on his amazing boat, hunting and fishing many times...we also were in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. We returned to MN but made many summer trips to Juneau and always saw him....the last trip, he took us to his prized, wonderful music building! Juneau lost a gem! He was one of my most...

Ron was a larger than life person. He was kind, funny and generous to a fault. Everyone in our company that met him took to him immediately and we are all very saddened by his passing. Alev shalom.

Ron indeed gave back much of what he earned from Juneau, and left our cultural life much richer. Not only was he a great trumpeter and bandleader, but he did more for music education in Southeast Alaska than any other private donor has done, providing scholarships for Sitka summer music camps, supporting the Juneau Youth Symphony, and a donation of $250,000 to the Juneau Symphony Foundation.

His generosity helped to bring us conductors that challenged local musicians and singers...

Ron Maas was not an ordinary man. He was a noble man, a successful man, and a philanthropist. He made Juneau a better place.

He will be missed. Fond memories of a shared boathouse and a neighbor on Highland Dr.

My condolences to the family . May you find comfort in your treasured memories
and Gods promise to return our loved ones . 1st Thessalonians 4 : 13 & 14 .

Ron was indeed generous, and, as already mentioned, the consummate Alaska businessman. My dad and I were first introduced to Ron by Warren Wiley at Ron's South Franklin office in circa Oct 1966. I remember Ron had a lever action Winchester 1895 30-06 hanging on his office wall and I was so taken with the gun that, on the spot, Ron offered it to me as a gift. Although my father intercepted and politely declined the offer, I never forgot how nice a guy Ron Maas was.
