Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home - Conception Harbour Obituary

MORRISSEY, Ronald John - On the evening of August 1st, 2020, when the sky opened up and the thunder rolled, Ron Morrissey was welcomed to Eternal Rest at the "Gates of Heaven".  After a brief illness with cancer, Ron passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre, St. John's, at the young age of 53.

At Ron's request cremation has taken place.

Ron is predeceased by his parents: William (Ron) and Loretta Morrissey; his in-laws: Leonard and Mary Wade; and all members of the Morrissey, Keating, and Wade families.

Leaving to mourn his wife Leonce (Lea) of 34 years, and their beautiful daughter Taylor; his brother Tom and his family, their mother Mary McGrath, and extended Morrissey, Wade, Keating, and Joy families.  Ron leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws; God Child Casey Bartlett; best friend, cousin and neighbour Kenny Joy; his co-workers at Holyrood Hydro Plant with B&W; many friends and extended family members.

Ron was a proud member of Boilermakers Local 203 for 32 years, and Ironworkers Local 764.  After many years travelling for work Ron made his nest for 20 years with Alstrom and then B&W at Holyrood, where he enjoyed his job, co-workers, and many friends he made along the way.  Ron dearly loved Lea and Taylor, he wasn't shy to express his feelings regarding them, and the three of them enjoyed life and made endless memories.  It's very sad that their time together was cut short, however we are sure Ron is their Guardian Angel and will guide and protect them forever.  Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, Friday night drinking buddies, and most of all his boat.  He was saddened when his health failed and he did not get his boat in the water this year, however, he managed to climb aboard just two weeks ago and sit in his captain's chair for one last time.

Ron's memory will live through his family and friends as a great person, a super dad, a loving husband, and a hard worker.  He didn't leave many stones unturned, there was no tomorrow with him - if something needed to be done or fixed, it was done the same day.

A very special thank you to Dr. Lake, Staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, and Staff at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre.
