Funeral service for Ronald Nathanial New, 61, of Hartselle will be today, January 10, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Joey Coots and Brother Michael Cowley officiating. Burial will be in Bethsadia Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. New, who died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at his residence, was born April 3, 1950, in Blount County to Nathanial Junior New and Audice Ward New. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with the rank of E-5 Sergeant, with two tours in Vietnam. He was the recipient of seven medals including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church and he loved to help people in any way. He was employed by the State of Alabama as a maintenance worker. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Pam New; two sons, Shane New (Shana) of Cullman and Shane Bryant (Tina) of Baileyton; one daughter, Lindsey Rogers (Tyler) of Decatur; one sister, Carol Twitty (James) of Hanceville; eleven grandchildren, T'ea Koch, Oliver Bryant, Dylan Bryant, Zeke Sides, Hunter New, Hailie New, Gracie Rogers, and expecting fourth grandson, Carter Rogers, Heather Simmons, Wade Rickard and Michael Rickard.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Smith, Tyler Rogers, Shane Bryant, Josh Wallace, Brandon Flowers and Tommy Farris.
