Ronald Nichols, age 79, of Crete, IL, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021.  Beloved husband of Penelope Nichols, nee Mack, whom he married on December 31, 1960.  Loving father of Tanya Johnson and Eric (Lisa) Nichols.  Cherished grandfather of Caitlin Weakley, Sara (Joel) Franklin, Shelby (Dustin) Essington, Jonathan Nichols, and Emily Nichols.  Dear brother of Kenneth R. Nichols, the late Dolores Hanna, and the late Marilyn Laya.  Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Mary Nichols.  


Ronald was born on October 20, 1941 in Chicago Heights, IL, to Mary (Turcany) and Kenneth Nichols.  He graduated from Bloom Township Highschool in 1960, and has been a resident of Crete, IL since 1963.  Ronald worked for the Ford Stamping Plant for 35 years before retiring in 1995.  He was a dedicated member of Faith Bible Church of Steger where he was on the board and was Treasurer for 28 years.  Ronald loved cars, baseball, and the two bull terriers he owned years ago.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.


Visitation Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits, Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, IL.  Funeral service Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Steger Memorial Chapel with Rev.
