Mooers – Ronald G. Roberts, 75, of Route 11 in Mooers New York, died June 26th 2012 due to complications of Multiple Myeloma at home with his loving family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. Ronald was born June 13th 1937 in Mooers, New York to Wilfred and Elizabeth (Abare) Roberts. Ron graduated from Mooers High School in 1957. On October 10th 1959 he married his high school sweetheart Janet A. Hawksby. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962 stationed in Baumholder, Germany and while there he graduated from the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy. He then worked for several different local companies in engineering, manufacturing, and sales. In 1980 he purchased Riley Ford in Chazy, New York which he has owned and operated since. He was very proud to have been awarded the "Masters Award" and accompanying Green Jacket from Ford Motor Credit Company for annual dealership excellence. Ron was a member of the Mooers Fire Department (20 years), past Grand Knight of Mooers K of C, Fourth Degree in Council #6136, Director of FDAF Council Ford Motor Company (22 years), Councilman for the Town of Mooers (8 years), member of the Elks Club, VFW Post 1418, and an avid golfer and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and spending his winter months in Florida. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He is pre-deceased by his parents, sister Pearl (Roberts) Babbie and her husband Homer Babbie, sister Leita (Roberts) LaPier, sister Rita (Roberts) Rabideau, brother Richard Roberts, sister Evelyn (Roberts) Beebe and her husband Lawrence, sister Elizabeth "Betty" (Roberts) Babbie and her husband Harold, brother Gerald Roberts and his wife Alba "Joan" (Trombley) Roberts, brother Francis Roberts, brother in law Harold Gonyo, and brother in law George Filion. He is survived by his loving, caring wife of 52 years, Janet (Hawksby) Roberts, daughter Jane (Roberts) Dubrey and husband Stephen, daughter Joy (Roberts) VanLeuvan and her husband Bart VanLeuvan, grandson Cory Dubrey, granddaughter Jessica VanLeuvan, granddaughter Jenna (VanLeuvan) Seguin and her husband Matthew, sister Margaret (Roberts) Dragoon and husband Jack, sister Dora (Roberts) Filion, sister Doris (Roberts) Trombley and husband Daylord, brother Morris Roberts and wife Pauleen, many loved nieces and nephews, and "adopted" granddaughters Jenna Hansen and Jody Seguin. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8 at Ross Funeral Home in Mooers and the Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 10 o'clock at St. Josephs church in Mooers.
