Not sure what to say?

The first year without the smiles and uplifting conversations Ron kindly always provided everyone. The way he lived every day of his life is an indelible and shining example of how each of us could better. He did, day after day. Anyone who had even a slight relationship-actually friendship which he made sure of missed the full face full heart smile his photo shows. I miss you dear man, a lot. Larry Sokol parent of Addie and Max who were fortunate enough to have him as a teacher and as a...

Dear Ron´s Family, I met Ron when I was recruiting for an eastern boarding school. He was very welcoming and funny. Little did I know that within two years, 1993 (?), I would be teaching Upper SchoolEnglish with Clint and the gang. Ron was ALWAYS so kind, and continued to be funny as well as being a FABULOUS Admissions Director. He had a twinkle in his eye, and saw the humour and truth in the day-to-day. One summer, Ron, John Hamilton and I went to the Westtown Conference in PA for...

I worked under Ron´s supervision at Catlin. Never had a more hilarious or thoughtful administrator for the rest of my 31-year career.

Ron was a charming man whose smile warmed you upon every greeting. He was truly a favorite of mine on the Catlin Gabel campus. Condolences to all that loved him.

I´ve known Ron since the 1st/2nd grade, even then he had no problem teaching us the importance of being a good person. We grew up together. I remember when we were carefree Rough Riders, Yellow Jackets trying to earn our stingers and survive the growing pains of Jr. high and finally getting to spread our wings as Burroughs Indians. Eventually, we met again at SJS where we became family. I will forever be grateful to call him my brother. Ron taught me many things, I never knew a...

He lived at the crossroads of Angst and Slapstick. The intersection where Woody Allen meets Mel Brooks. He amused us. Entertained us. Made us laugh. He played the harmonica. He loved the theme from Fiddler on the Roof. He loved Topol´s Tevye. He wore his heart on both sleeves -- at the same time. He got under our skin. He grew on us. And we loved him for it. I always reminded him that, for some, he could be an acquired taste. But he reveled in the process of ultimately charming...

Must have been the early nineteenth, 1992 probably. It was 2 am, and two ambitious mothers, we were in line at the Tualatin Community Center to sign up our sons for the summer tennis lessons. The main subject of our conversation was school and learning. After a while, the gentleman in line behind us addressed us. "I hear that you are very interested in your children´s education. I am Ron Sobel, director of admission at Catlin Gabel. If you ever want to consider what this school can offer to...

I first met Ron in 1967 and have remained friend ever since. Ron the gift of making and retaining friends and other close relationships. Knowledgeable about many , many things he was always interesting to converse with. We will all miss him but appreciate the personal memories. Charles McHugh Friend

I met Ron in 1966 at SJSU. We were pledge class brothers and we have remained friends since. He loved life and found such great joy, contentment and peace with Elaine. I´m sad for all of us.
