Not sure what to say?

Many people did not know that Ron was a very good baseball player. In his Senior year at Hammond Technical School, he was the teams Center Fielder. In the final game of the season, they were out of contention and playing East Chicago
Roosevelt, where Aunt Julie's brother ED dudek was the Coach.
Roosevelt was tied for first place
with cross town rival Washington.
In the last inning they were behind
by a run, two outs, two men on base
when the hitter...

I will always remember Ron for being a great brother "bro" to my husband Jim and uncle to our kids. I will also remember him: for giving me my first short haircut after Brady was born; for Nicole's first haircut; for introducing us to the Y Indian Guides when we lived in Hammond; for showing Jim how to build an ice rink in our backyard on Forest Ave.; for the amazing number of fish he and his family caught at Barton Lake and which we got to eat on Christmas Eve; for our cookouts and family...

I, like Paul Sobota, held Jim and Ron as brothers growing up. Our Uncle Charlie Sapyta called us the "Three Musketeers." Together a lot as kids. I lived across the street from Uncle Charlie,Uncle Chet and our grandparents in East Chicago and the Sobotas were over often. My mother, Stella, was Ronnie's godmother and as late as 1992, two years before her death, we gathered in Decatur, Il for a good meal and she made him his favorite pie, a whopping big lemon meringue. He liked that.

Ron - your vibes will be missed. I'll always have fond memories of the great family picnics at Lake Eliza in the 1950's. Our prayers are with you on your journey.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family of Ron Sobota at this time. The Sobota family has left me alot of good memories to cherish.

Mr. Sobota: it's been twenty something years since I've spoken to you, however, the memories remain intact. You are the person who opened my eyes to one of my favorite hobbies - golf. Thank you for that invitation to "Minnie" way back when, and your quick witted humor on the fishing trips at Barton Lake.
Chris & Deb: words can't explain what you've had to endure recently. We're sorry for your losses.
Dave, Jeanette, Rachel, and Samantha.

Uncle Ron,
Thank you for opening your house up to our family for holiday visits.
Thank you for catching my first curve ball (that actually broke). Thank you for helping me build my first pinewood derby race car (that actually placed). Thank you for making me laugh with your corny jokes. Thank you for sharing your childhood stories about my Dad with me. Thank you for showing Lisa and I how to catch croppie with a $1.49, one foot long ice fishing pole. Rest in peace with your Mom,...

Uncle Ron shows off Catch with Joe, Charlotte, Brady, Lisa at Barton Lake 9.5.2004

For a cousin who with his brother Jim were like brothers to me. I will always remember getting up at 4AM to go fishing at the pier. May you share in the light of the Lord.
