Ronald Yoshida Obituary

Ronald Seiichi Yoshida

Ronald Seiichi Yoshida passed away after a brief illness, at the age of 88, on July 10 in Seattle surrounded by his family. He was born in Seattle on July 15, 1924, the only son of four children of Seinosuke and Riyo Yoshida.

He was interred at Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho during the war and completed his high school education at the camp school, which he had started at Broadway High School. Upon his return to Seattle, he found employment with Seattle Transit, now Metro, as a bus driver. During this time he married Kiyoko Tashiro. He was employed with them for 38 years prior to his retirement. He was recognized for his safety record as a transit operator for many years.

He was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Imperial Drum and Bugle Corps for many years during the 1960-1980 time period, when his two sons were active. During this time he made flags for their competitions, and supported the myriad of fund-raising activities. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing cards, as well as frequent lunches and dinners with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, and two sons, Bryan (Babera) and Hudson (Donna) and by his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and his three sisters.

A private family service was held, and he will be interred at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.

My deepest sympathy. Brian, Hudson, your Father was a gentleman of class, compassion, and patience. His presence on the Imperial tours was always reassuring. I always appreciated his kindness, and the occasional good humored ribbing. I will not forget him.

Mrs. Yoshida, Bryan, and Hudson,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your husband and dad, Ron. I was lucky to have known him and will always remember that great smile and laugh of his. In my mind I will always see him with that briefcase handcuffed to his wrist and know that my next Imperials meal was in good hands!
I'll remember his hard, unselfish dedication to the Imperials with gratitude and was amazed at his talents with the knitting needles.
My thoughts and prayers are with you always.

We are thankful to have had the opportunity to know Mr Yoshida. He was a big part of the Imperials from working Bingo to Chaperoning. Jon and I still talk about Mr Yoshida passing out our $3.00 for every meal on tour. What a wonderful man. When he smiled you couldn't help but not smile right back, his smile lit up a room. Our since sympathy to Mrs Yoshida, Bryan, Hudson and the rest of the Family.

Mrs. Yoshida, Bryan and Hudson.

I feel so fortunate to have known your husband/Dad. He was one of a kind and he gave me some of my most memorable moments with the Imperials and when playing cards with my Mom and friends. He always livened up the occasion. I know that he is at peace!
