I knew Ronnie Coates as "Brown Bear" at SWH and the neighborhood. His reputation as a great football player preceded him. In 1972-3, I worked with Ronnie, Geri, and Glenn at Shoney's Big Boy. Brown Bear trained me and he was my protector. He was chiseled like a rock but had most likeable personality and his laughter would just melt you away. I have always remembered Brown Bear fondly.
