Retired USMC Col. Ronnie O. Davis, 72, died peacefully at home on Feb. , 201120. Ronnie was born in Lynchburg, VA and resided in Norfolk and Virginia Beach most of his life. Ronnie attended Granby High School where he was an athlete and class officer. He furthered his education at William and Mary-Norfolk as a Physical Education major. He wrestled at both Granby and W&M-N. After teaching at Princess Anne High School, he entered the US Marine Corps and served active and reserve duty for thirty three years. In his civilian life he worked for Atlantic Permanent S & L, Seaboard Savings and Greenbrier Mortgage. He stayed active golfing, sailing and playing softball in the VB Recreation League. He was an avid sports fan following the VT Hokies, NASCAR, and the Redskins. Ronnie is survived by his mother, Gertrude Davis; his wife, Emma L. Davis; his daughter; Tanis Davis of Northern Virginia; his son, R. Scott Davis, daughter-in-law Paige and four grandchildren, Sara, Ryan, Grant and Emma Davis all of Radford, VA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Virginia Beach Christian Church or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Virginia Beaach Christian Church. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service at the church.
