Ronny Armstrong, age 68, resident of Shelby died Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Crestwood Care Center following an extended illness. Born October 15, 1944 in Shelby to Lon and Alice (Adkins) Armstrong, he lived in Florida and Arizona for many years but spent most of his life in Shelby. A veteran of the US Army, Ronny had worked as a caretaker in Oakland Cemetery and retired from the maintenance department of Shelby City Schools in 2007. He was a big Elvis fan who enjoyed watching wrestling, playing golf and softball and coaching Little League. He was a stubborn yet loving man and will be missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his children, Kim Hensley-Claytor (Randi) of Shelby, Steven Todd Armstrong of Mansfield, and Brent (Heather) Armstrong of Shelby; four grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Rew, Brennan, Camden and Trace Armstrong; 2 great-grandchildren, Eli and Chloe Rew; sisters, Cheryl (Scott) Bendle of Shelby, and Vickie Snavely of Arizona; special nephew, Jason Smith of Mansfield, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dana Adkins Dodd. At Ronny's request, there will be no funeral services or calling hours. Burial will take place in Kentucky at a later date. Barkdull Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
