The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with the deepest sympathy the transition of Mr. Roosevelt Jackson.
Mr. Roosevelt “LuLu” Jackson was born to the late Andrew Jackson, Sr. and Delaney Richardson Jackson in Orrville, Alabama. He was one of ten children.
He was a sharecropper on the family farm until he relocated to Mobile, Alabama. He became a truck driver and retired from Red Ball Motor Freight Line (Alabama State). He began a second career with the Docks of Mobile, Alabama where he later retired.
He was a member of many organizations/societies and leader of the Twelve Pipers for many years until at the age of 75, he rededicated his life to Christ.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Viola Buxton Jackson, and his son, Barron.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children: David (Cheryl) Jackson of Montgomery, AL and Delernia R. Jackson of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, David Jackson II and Chery’a Jackson of Montgomery, AL, Pierre Jackson, Alexis Jackson and Lemuel Jackson of Mobile, AL; one great-grandson, Hendrix Jackson; two brothers, Leroy (Lucille) Jackson of Pensacola, FL and Rev. Edward Bell of Morristown, PA; two sisters, Ernestine Mosley and Lucinda Harris of Mobile, AL; one dedicated sister-in-law, Mattie Lynum of Chickasaw, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
