I was saddened to learn of Roque's passing. I had the privilege of studying with him for a few years at Illinois State University and he and his teaching have had a lasting influence on me. My condolences and prayers for his family.

Dear Cordero Family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Roque's legacy lives on in your wonderful family and his beautiful music. His fuits are truly bountiful. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

He was a great man whom I loved and admired when he headed the Panama Conservatory of Music.l What a talent! His memory will be cherished forever. I did one of the first interviews with Roque when I was a reporter for The Panama American and have followed his illustrious career ever since. My daughter, a modern dancer has been in contact with him over the year and has joyously used many of his musical compositions in dances she has choreographed.
