Mrs. Rosa B. Goode, 91, of 515 Elm Street, Petersburg, Va., peacefully transition this life journey to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017. She was born August 5, 1925 to the late Mack and Rosa Thomas Brown.
Preceded in transition by her husband, Willie C. Goode, Jr.; sons, Charles E. and Chester L. Goode; daughter, Delores G. Wright; granddaughter, Michell Green and ten siblings, Delores, Willie, Lee, John, Anna, Dorothy, Sarah, Beatrice, Geraldine and Hazel.
During this journey, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. She was an active member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Chesterfield, Va., and sang with the Senior Choir for many years.
“Rosa B.” as she was affectionately called by some family and friends also served many years with the former King David Lodge #233 and The Alease Cooley Memorial Tent #718. As she continued to seek to study and build her relationship with God, she was inspired to move her membership to Blessed Hope Church Ministry in Prince George, Va., where she remained in fellowship for several years.
Rosa B. was employed by Chesterfield County School Board where she worked for the Food Service Department. She retired after 33 plus years of service retiring in 1994.
She was devoted to family and friends. Rosa B. was kind to strangers but above all her love and devotion was to God and prayer. Rosa B. and Willie C. never hesitated to share their home and blessings with others in need. She was a giver from the heart, her ministries were helps and prayer. She loved to cook, dance, sing and support her favorite gospel singing group, The Sensational Nightingales. Rosa B. loved her family.
Rosa B. Goode leaves to cherish precious memories, a son, Major C. Goode (Sharon); daughters, Sarah G.A. Hardy (Roman) and Shauna G. Walker all of Petersburg, Va.; eleven grandchildren, one devoted D’Wanna G. Aye (Tunde), Sakinia Goode, De’Angela Anthony, Ashli Goode, Kelli G. Wyche (Larry), Thomas Wright, Jr. (Crystal), Chester Jr., Corey, Shawn Sr., Deva Goode and Dévonn Anthony; nineteen great grandchildren, two devoted Jazmyn and Jonathan, Khetari, Jordan, Dontevious, DeKari, Tomia, Jamari, Jayden, Aniya, India, Erica, Josiah, Marcus, Shiyanna, Shawn Jr. Joshua, Chosen, and Camryn; devoted nieces, Ureil Ben-Levi of New York City; devoted cousins, Rozelia Dean and Linda Gill of New York City, Harold Thomas, Otelia Campbell and Mary Porter, devoted friends, Deacon John and Rosa Brown and Wesley and Candise Nicholas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Mrs. Rosa B. Goode will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Leroy A. Cherry, Pastor, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
